Position Title: SEO Manager
Location: Virtual, remote role - meet 4 x per year, mostly in London, UK. Candidates must be based in the UK.
Reports To: Head of SEO/Search and Client Services Director.
Work alongside: SEO copywriting team, backlink building and digital PR team, and CRO specialists.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
This is a hands-on SEO role for someone with at least 5+ years of experience, ideally within the retail or e-commerce sector, and has had agency experience. You’ll be responsible for leading technical, on-page, and off-page SEO strategies that drive visibility, traffic, and measurable results.

HQ is based in Newbury, Berkshire, however the rest of the 10-strong team are spread across the south of the UK all the way from Bournemouth to Bristol. Location does not matter, but mandatory quarterly team meets tend to be in the South, such as London and Brighton, therefore candidates have to be willing to travel to these locations.
Work with the Head of SEO/Search to develop SEO strategies aligned with client goals
Collaborate with content, design, dev, and PR teams to execute integrated campaigns
Monitor site performance and make strategic adjustments based on data insights
Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits and work with devs on implementation
Drive keyword strategy and inform content production based on search intent
Monitor site health, visibility, and performance across key search engines
Implement SEO best practices across content, technical and CRO touchpoints
Perform backlink audits and use insights to develop smart link-building strategies
Collaborate with the digital PR team to identify opportunities for high-authority links
Clean up toxic backlinks and protect the integrity of client link profiles
Support backlink acquisition with the help of the link-building team
Use GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Lumar, ScreamingFrog and Looker Studio to track and report on performance
Build client-facing reports with insights and actionable recommendations
Use A/B testing and data-led insights to improve SEO outcomes
Understand seasonal trends, sales cycles, and retail-specific keyword intent
Collaborate on product content strategies and retail conversion optimisation
Analyse competitor movements and SERP landscape to inform strategy
Keep up with the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, AI updates/tools and Google updates
Be active on LinkedIn in line with our own marketing strategy and voice
Share industry news, opinions, and insights with the wider team and our clients
5+ years’ experience in an SEO-focused role, ideally within the retail or e-commerce industry and has had agency experience
Strong understanding of SEO tools (e.g., GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Looker Studio)
Hands-on experience with technical SEO, on-page optimisation, and link building
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Commercial awareness and ability to explain SEO in a client-friendly, jargon-free way
Highly organised with strong time management and project delivery skills
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide clear actions
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript for SEO purposes
Experience with international/multilingual SEO
Ability to build dashboards in Looker Studio
Understanding of related digital disciplines (e.g., digital PR, social media, CRO)
Either 4 days a week (30 hours per week) or full-time role (37.5 hours per week)
Flexi-time between 8am–8pm, focused on great client service and teamwork
Remote first – with 4 x team meet-ups per year in the South (e.g. London, Brighton)
Occasional travel for conferences, training, and client meetings
Strong WiFi and “camera-on” etiquette for virtual meetings (support can be provided)
